Recipes for common searches
- Wordle with greens and greys: put the greens in Pattern (e.g. ?R??E), yellows in Must include, greys in Must not include. Or let the Wordle solver handle yellow positions for you.
- Rhyme-ish endings: Ends with -IGHT, -OUGH or -TION gives you rhyme and poem candidates.
- Crossword gaps: Pattern alone is the classic missing-letter search; the crossword solver adds clue help.
- Hooks in Scrabble: Starts with a letter plus Length 3 shows which small words can front-hook a tile on the board.
- Browse by length: ready-made lists for 4, 5, 6 and 7-letter words.
Questions players ask
How do I find words that start with certain letters?
Type the letters into "Starts with" and press Find words. Add a length to narrow it, e.g. five-letter words starting with CR.
How do I search by pattern?
Use the Pattern box with ? for each unknown letter: ?A?E finds four-letter words with A second and E fourth. The pattern sets the length; leave it empty to search all lengths.
Can I find words containing specific letters in any position?
Yes. "Must include" keeps words that contain all of those letters anywhere (repeat a letter to require it twice). "Must not include" drops any word with those letters, which is handy for Wordle grey letters.
What does "contains" do differently from "must include"?
"Contains" looks for the letters together in that order (e.g. OUGH), while "must include" looks for each letter separately anywhere in the word.
How many results can it show?
It counts every match and lists the first 1,000, everyday words first. Tighten a filter to see the rest.
