Questions players ask
How do I find 5-letter words with certain letters in any position?
Type the letters into "Letters the word must contain" and press Find. Every five-letter word that contains all of them, in any order and any position, is listed — everyday words first. Repeat a letter (e.g. EE) to require it twice.
Can I fix some letters to a position?
Yes. Use the five position boxes: put a letter in a box when you know it goes there (a green tile in Wordle). Leave the others empty.
How do I exclude letters?
Type them into "Letters the word must not contain" — for Wordle, those are your grey letters. Any word with one of them is removed.
What about letters I know are in the word but not in a certain spot?
Add them to "must contain", then type the letter into the matching "not here" box under that position (a yellow tile in Wordle). The word must contain the letter somewhere else.
Which words count as everyday?
Everyday words are the five-letter words in the common tiers of the SCOWL word lists (3,396 words), close to the kind of words used as Wordle answers. Rare words are valid in word-game dictionaries but uncommon; switch "Include rare words" on to see them.
