WordWhiz is built with privacy at its core. We believe your word puzzles, searches, and game strategies are your business, not ours. Here's what that means in practice:
What Data We Collect
None. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or search data to our servers. All word processing, pattern matching, and puzzle solving happens entirely in your browser.
Local Storage
WordWhiz uses your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) to:
- Cache the word database for faster searches (approximately 2MB)
- Save your search history for quick re-access (last 50 searches per tool)
- Store your favorite words and dictionary preferences
- Remember your theme and interface settings
All of this data stays on your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings or by clearing your browsing data.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand basic usage patterns (like which tools are most popular) without tracking individuals. Ahrefs is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or collect personal identifiable information.
Third-Party Services
WordWhiz does not integrate with any third-party services that process user data. The word definitions link to Wiktionary (Wikimedia Foundation) as an external reference, but we don't send any data when you click those links.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes. The only cookies used are strictly necessary for the website to function (like remembering your dictionary preference).
Data Sharing
We don't collect your data, so we have nothing to share. We will never sell, rent, or distribute your information to third parties.
Your Rights
Since all your data is stored locally in your browser, you have complete control:
- View your data: Check your browser's developer tools → Application → Local Storage
- Delete your data: Clear your browser's storage or browsing data
- Export your data: Use browser tools to export your local storage
